It’s a tragedy I missed the disco era. Besides the coke, the booze, the sex, and the music, those years looked liquid…like warm water you could float through without walking on cold, hard ground. The 1970s were fueled by a general belief in life, liberty, and the pursuit of hedonism…everyone was part of the crowd, and the crowd was there to have a good goddamn time…so why fight the feeling?

Daz Merchant doesn't fight it, that's fasho. His dreamy banger ‘Invincible’ gives me Saturday night fever…makes me wanna roll down the Cadillac windows with my babe riding shotgun on a highway straight to neon city…bloodstream pumping in lockstep with electro drums and synths like stairways to a sexual high.

Daz comes correct with a drippy melodic flow sounding right at home on this hybrid disco/electronica vibe, his latest sold out (free!) mint on Sound.xyz. I appreciate when artists explore different sounds and Daz going in this direction was a pleasant surprise…he’s a versatile rapper/singer who can spit bars or croon with a wavy falsetto. Ooo-wee.

If you didn’t already know, Daz is the inaugural artist on Good Karma Dao – a music label dao supporting groundbreaking artists in web3 founded by none other than Grady Lee – and he’s been killing the game with 7 sold out drops on Sound, all part of his upcoming album Fever. Between himself and an all star cast of collaborators such as Grady, Reo Cragun, Daniel Allan and more, the young boy has a bright future, and will no doubt two step his way to more reviews on Kalcium.
